Update:
For me it was 42 days until I was approved. I am waiting on the permit to arrive in the mail. I probably would have gotten approved a lot sooner had I paid in person when I was there in LSPHQ taking my prints or if there wasn't a problem with my payment.

Email Received 3/14/17: Application is approved permit should be received in 10-15 days.
Checked Online Status: Approved.

Update: Received permit 3/22 issued date of email.

If you have the Gp number you can check the status on the website.

https://chp-web.dps.louisiana.gov/FrontUser/RequestStatus.aspx put your permit number in and it will tell you the status.

New 5 year Permit

3/11/17-Took Class
3/13/17-Submitted application on-line
3/15/17-Fingerprinted at LSP headquarters and submitted payment on-line. Money was immediately removed from bank and got confirmation email.
3/17/17-Email received saying that permit was approved and would be received in mail in next 10-15 days.

Disclaimer: I have never been arrested and never divorced. I also already have a state gaming license that gets renewed every two years with a background check done then by LSP Gaming Enforcement. I don't know if that helped with quick turnaround but I thought I would clarify.

I would seriously suggest doing the application on-line and getting fingerprints at the LSP headquarters whenever possible.

3/22/17- received permit in mail for a total time of a week and a half from application to permit in hand.

Pay in person with a Money Order when you go print. I think my hold up was paying online and having the system say that my payment had not been received. Which was a little frustrating considering the money vacated my account 2 days after submitting the payment.

I went and drop off my application on 3-10 had my prints done and paid with my debit card I called to check on status off my app on 3-22 and the lady said she just approved me and will be mailing out 7 to 10 days fingers cross

I did everything online . Printed at LSP . One week total .

I had submitted my paperwork by snail mail, with prints, back in June, and just got my permit on March 8th. My wife's was submitted in Jan '16, and got it back in Oct, so 9 months for her, and 8 for me!

3/23/17 was approved and mailed out
3/28/17 received in mail
So it took after I went to the HQ 2 weeks.

went to LSPHQ yesterday for fingerprints, paid for prints with money order - immediately got the email my that my application was accepted and then the email for payment for permit fee a minute later. Paid the permit fee with debit card while sitting in the waiting room to be printed (gotta love technology).
This morning I get the email saying my permit has been approved!
I must add that everyone I spoke to at LSPHQ was friendly and helpful, it was a pleasant experience.

Hi... I mailed mine in the beginning of March. I received a email 4-5-17 saying mine was accepted. Then this morning, 4-8-17 I got a email saying it's 'pending review' ... so hopefully it won't be long.

Is pending review a normal processing step? I was supirised getting the email because of it being Saturday morning.

Oh they are very overwhelm right now a friend of mine took 8 months till he had his chp in hand my brother and I was able to get ours chp in hand after 2 weeks of going there and calling
