Deputies arrest man they say tried to rob bank with fake bomb

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators say a Denham Springs man used a fake bomb when he tried to rob a bank Monday morning.

According to reports, Louis Allen Jr., 43, went through the drive-thru and passed a note to tellers demanding money shortly before 10 a.m. at the Whitney National Bank in the 6000 block of Jones Creek. He also allegedly showed a cardboard box, claiming it was a bomb.

Allen was arrested without incident and charged with attempted armed robbery, fake explosive device and communicating a false threat of arson.

I still like the one Paul Harvey reported years ago. The robber was so stupid that he wrote his demand note on the back of one of his own deposit slips while he was waiting in line. He was promptly arrested at his residence.

I like that. Just tell the teller to deposit the money you stole into your account...
