Ive got an 18.5" Maverick 88. Id like a little better spread for hunting purposes; I was originally going to get a 28" barrel, but it seems that they are only 40-50 dollars short of what I would pay to buy another Maverick 88 haha.. Anyway, would threading this 18.5" Barrel for a choke tube be a good idea? If so, how much should I expect to pay to have it done?

By a gun smith or machine shop? probably more than a maverick 88 costs new.

You could probably buy a a couple specialized tools and do it yourself if it is possible.

Check with a few of the site sponsors, it does not seem practical to buy the tools for a one time use. I had a 1100 done for screw in chokes years ago for less than 100 including tubes.

I did this with my 870 a few years back. Local machine shop did it for $60.
With a 350 pellet shell I was getting about 100 hits in a 30" circle at 20 yards with the bore. After adding a modified choke it brought up my count to nearly 200, I'm sure a full choke would be tighter but I don't have one for that shotgun at the moment.
