Toyota Rav4 transmission question

If anybody has a Rav4, I have a question. My wife just bought a new one and I can’t find what I’m looking for in the owner’s manual or on line. When you put it in drive the gearshift lever has two side positions, one on the left and one on the right. For normal driving, should it be in the left or right? I can’t call the dealership until Monday and of course my wife wants to know >>NOW<<.

Does it say "4-D"? If so, put it on the right. That will put it in full auto mode.
