I'm very familiar with that intersection - Jesuit High School is on the corner.

It's perfectly legal to make a right turn on red after stop there. HOWEVER, you have to stop before the white stripe, which, as I recall, is VERY worn out. If you can tell from the video, you may have a chance of beating this - assuming that you did a COMPLETE stop, and not a slow roll.

Nothing is up to standards on New Orleans streets, I seriously doubt anybody from NOPD actually examines all of these films due to the sheer volume. It is a money grab and they are counting on no one contesting them. If you actually want to contest it, the process is so miserable you are probably financially better off paying the stupid thing....which is what they are counting on. Upside it doesn't go on your driving record and no attachment is issued if you don't pay because they are civil tickets. On the downside, if you don't pay they ding your credit rating.

If you don't review them you will miss things like funeral escorts, etc. I'm willing to bet they view all of them or someone would have complained to the media.

When Jefferson had their system up, one of our escorts did get tickets, marked units, bikes, hearse, and everybody in the procession. Maybe N.O. is better.

BR did he same thing and it was on the news. That was my point. I haven't heard of NOPD being on the news for it yet.

Really? Did the marked units have to pay their citations?

Nobody did in the end. Point being, they allegedly viewed all of the violations. At the peak, with the manpower assigned to do so, they would have had to look at around 2 violations per minute, non stop, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Yep. People on light duty were assigned to do it.

And then you have school zone speeding violations being issued in front of hamburger joints.
    http://uptownmessenger.com/2012/07/owen-courreges-back-to-school-for-a-speeding-ticket/
The reason there is no school is because the building where Company Burger presently operates (together with two other businesses) is the former site of Audubon Primary Academy.
This past March, the Landrieu administration announced that it would be bringing 11 new speed cameras online in school zones, including both east and westbound at the *former Audubon Primary Academy.*

Yes, you read that correctly. Landrieu’s own press release recognized that he was putting in a speed camera in a school zone created for a school that was no longer there.

So happy we don't have these in ascension parish yet. The departments would be ticketing their own guys. Pretty sure that's why the idea was shot down anyway. I also don't think our parish has the man/woman power to accomplish it.

The citation was also reviewed by a member of NOPD before it was mailed out to you.

That works real good. My buddy that lives in Zachary has gotten two ticket in N.O. and his car has never been in N.O.
It's the old Texas plate with the same number as his La. plate deal. NOPD really looks close at the pictures.

Ok, that sounds really easy to contest.

Same thing with another friend on the CCC. I don't know looks at those. This one was a white Chrysler with a Texas plate in the picture. My friend's car was a black Honda that he had traded in at Richards Honda in BR the year before. The plate was the same number as his old plate but from Texas.
