MS - Handguns fine/ long guns unloaded during hunting season
AL - Handguns unloaded and cased, unless you have a CHP / Long guns fine in plain view or cased
GA - handgun & rifles are fine w/ some restrictions
TN - handguns & long guns should be unloaded and cased unless you have a CHP.
VA - plain view or cased in plain view, trunk is also OK. greater than 20 round magazines are outlawed while the gun is loaded with them when driving around. Unloaded, they are fine.
WV - All firearms should be unloaded and carried in plain view, except at night when they should also be cased. A loaded handgun is OK with a CHP.

I can't go into the details of all the states, but some consider a firearm loaded just by having the magazine loaded. Make sure your magazines are clear and your ammo is kept separate from your rifle.
As stated above - unloaded in case, legal where you final destination is, and you do not stop in banned states/counties, then you are always fine.

    This book is worth it:

I think those are all free states-you should be okay.
