If you are new to metal detecting, I would recommend a Tesoro brand detector. They are very easy to hunt with, not a lot
of adjusting and fine tuning. They work best in trashy areas, like old home sights. They can be had off of ebay under $300 used.
The company offers a life time warranty that they back up. I have a silver sabre model. It is 20 yrs old and still going strong.
    Best of luck, Bret.

In my much younger days I worked as a lifeguard at a local lake. During slack times I'd rake the beach and found several rings just by looking. Always wondered what would have turned up with a metal detector.

I know how you feel other with the gun hobby at a stand still once I got my lower in iv'e stopped looking until things die way down. Not to get off topic but my new hobby is gardening and landscaping work around my house right now which has been very rewarding in more than one way I've already lost 14lbs so far and it hasn't gotten hot yet lol

Yeah man it's always good to start something new me and the wife went to Tennessee for vacation about a month ago and while we were there we realized something was missing, it was something decent to take pictures wither had our phones and a older Sony point and shoot so while we were out there we bought a nice nikon dslr camera and the last three days of our trip we took over 1000 pics and ever since then well go out to the barataria preserve ( literally 2mins from the house )and take tons of pics I guess we kinda just started a new photography hobby we both love it and its like saved memories ya know

I looked at a few sites and kinda got overwhelmed with the vast variety of stuff that exists out there with metal detectors I'm still deff interested but I kinda got frustrated because I like to research anything I buy and I spent hours looking and reading and reading some more, as soon as i find one i liked and had good reviews then my hot water heater busted in my darn attic and I had to tap into the savings to repair it and the damage it caused so its like a never ending battle but I am gonna find me one soon and hopefully find some pretty neat stuff

I have a Garrett 250. It has been very reliable so far.
Anyone know someone who lives in the Port Hudson area?
Would be awesome to hunt some pastures around that area..
