Correct me if i'm wrong, but didnt SB78 just define exactly what a "switchblade" is, and not allow possession of them? Not trying to start anything, just trying to get opinions on how others read the law.

(b) The provisions of this Paragraph shall not apply to the following:
(i) Any knife that may be opened with one hand by manual pressure applied to the blade or any projection of the blade.
(ii) Any knife that may be opened by means of inertia produced by the hand, wrist, or other movement, provided the knife has either a detent or other structure that provides resistance that shall be overcome in opening or initiating the opening movement of the blade or a bias or spring load toward the closed position.


sounds like it simply clarifies that "assisted opening" knives are not illegal. nothing about switch blades which, i'd assume, means they are still illegal.

The prohibition against Hollywood's version of a switchblade is outdated. The legislators that enacted that law saw too many showings of West Side Story!

Hell, the Bayou Shooter Spyderco Endura opens faster than an archaic switchblade when I pull it from my pocket!?!

I have a cheapo magnum that opens so fast it almost jumps out of you r hand just by pushing a button, yet is supposedly considered an assisted opener.

Never mind, I missed the point. Yeah it looks as if SB75 didn't change the definition of this.
