I think scent is fine, just can't put out corn piles, etc.
You can also look on the Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries web page.
What kind of scent can you use to attract hogs?
They loved it when I put out fermented corn that smelt like the back of a garbage truck. I guess i could get some of the juice and spray it around for scent.

I'm betting that the WLF would see spraying fermented corn juice as baiting. I will try to look this up in the LA RS to see the exact wording.

    Title 76, Part XIX
§111. General and Wildlife Management Area Hunting Rules and Regulations
    G. Wildlife Management Area Regulations
    5. Methods of Taking Game

    c. Baiting or hunting over bait is prohibited on all
WMAs (hogs included). Unmarked hogs may be taken on
some WMAs by properly licensed hunters from the
beginning of archery season on the area until February 28
and only with guns/ammunition or bow and arrow legal for
specified seasons in progress. Consult the specific WMA for
additional information. Proper licenses and permits are
required for hunting. Hogs may not be taken with the aid of
    dogs.

I guess it depends on the broad definition of the words "baiting" and "bait".

You'll probably have to call the game wardens to see how they interpret the regulation.

Reading the above it would seem a scent would be okay. To me.....bait is something that they can eat that you put out such as Corn or other food.

A smell, well to me that is not bait.

If I was going fishing I would but bait on my hook. I would not just dip the hook into a smell and put the hook down there.

"I wasn't baiting, Agent! I was walking in the woods, eating a can of creamed corn, and accidently spilled it! Yes! Coincidently that happened every Saturday for the last three weeks!"

Hmm, I wonder if you ate lots of corn and then had to do #2 in the woods if it would be considered baiting.
we joked about the same thing kinda, we had spilled some corn in the camp yard at the deer lease (sacking from a super sack). Well my friend's Lab ate most of it. Two days later we went down to a little hole on us that holds ducks and the dog evacuated his bowels laving corn everywhere lol

My daughter and son in law both work for Wildlife and Fisheries, and you need to check with the Agents that inforce the laws in the area that you want to hunt in.. Give them a call... the Areas have different rules....Good luck,, I hunt in a state area that I have been told by the People that run the place that you can kill as many hogs as you like and bait them and they do not care, but this area is overrun with Hogs...
