VATA Group Home Defense Course April 27th - Anyone going?

Anyone going to this class it looks interesting. Especially for us who missed the FoF class advantage group offered earlier in the year.

Vata home defense course

I went in June of 2012 and it was well worth attending. They had outfitted an old ammo bunker on Camp Villery as a shoot house. We learned a lot and had a good time.

My father is going, or hopes to. The class is in danger of being cancelled if they don't get a few more people signed up. If you are already registered, try to get someone to join you!

The students were shooting airsoft guns from holsters. For the final exercise the students were paired up against both static targets and instructors with simunition guns in a dimly lit shoot house environment. Shooting with flashlights was definitely required.

Ammunition Requirements: None
Gear List: Pistol, holster, handheld flashlight, pistol mounted light (optional, but recommended), clear wraparound eye protection (reading type glasses are not
acceptable), water
* Wear clothing that you don’t mind tearing and/or staining
** Day 2 will involve force-on-force scenarios utilizing airsoft and/or simunitions and may result in welts or bruises

I just spent a week with VATA and the simunitions. They are awesome training tools and will put some serious welts on you. A few guys had broken skin through several layers of clothes so I would recommend a good jacket over a t-shirt. This is good because trust me after getting shot once you will be diving and running for cover when the SHTF. The ammo bunker they use is really cool but bring a dust mask because it's awfully dusty in there.

BR to Slidell is too far to train? I drove 5 hours to take a rifle course in florida. Good training is hard to find.

I just drove from Gonzales to Robert and Jnieman drove from Lafayette.
If BR to Slidell is too far..... Well that just ain't gonna cut it.
