    VATA Law Enforcement Combatives -- August 15-16, 2015 -- Slidell, LA -- $400 -- See below for available discounts

    Prerequisite: Current Law Enforcement employment
    Class Size: 8–30

    This two-day class is a real world look at street defense, specialized for law enforcement. The class focuses on the method of violent attacks and how to protect, attack and escape through
    practical exercises. The class will start off discussing attacker tactics and the mindset needed to win a fight. You will work with your duty equipment, and we will cover implementing guns and knives as striking tools. You can’t be shy for this one, because then it will rapidly evolve into practical exercises, striking drills, and force-on-force fighting scnearios to improve speed and accuracy The instructors will lead you through utilization of the improvised striking tools, weapon take aways and reversals as well as bettering a bad position. This isn’t the UFC – there are no octagons, referees or bells.

    The following topics will be covered during the course:
    • Situational awareness and observation techniques
    • Mindset
    • Going on the offense
    • Strikes (elbow, knee, combination, etc.)
    • Staying on your feet
    • Fighting on the ground (protect yourself)
    • Ground escapes
    • Improvised striking tools (duty gear, keys, pen, knife, etc.)
    • Violence of Action
    • Chokes and choke escapes
    • Clench and under hook drills
    • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (position and submissions)
    • Reversals
    • Weapon takeaways

    Equipment: Athletic clothing, long pants, mouth guard, your personal duty gear

    This is a physically demanding course. It will be held indoors and on mats, but you must be free of any injuries and in decent physical condition.

    Weekend: Discounted rate of $375 if you sign up for both one-day classes in a single weekend. (This does not apply to two-day classes)

    Referral: For each new student who signs up for a course and lists your name in the "how did you hear about us" section of their registration form, you will receive a 20% discount, which can be applied to a single day of training (so if you're applying the discount to a 2-day class, it will be applied to half of the course fee). You can rack up as many of these as you can and they can be combined with LEO/Military discounts.

    Repeat: Students who sign up for a course they have already taken will receive $25 off a single day course and $50 off a two-day course (Note: this discount has been adjusted as of 11/14 to account for single and two-day courses)

    Military/LEO: 20% off for active law enforcement and military personnel (can not be combined with the two-day discount or the repeat customer discount, can be combined with the referral discount).
