Personally I bought a Vepr 12 and I love the @#$% out of it.
I got mine for $799 but you would have to wait till the price comes down.
It is mag fed so reloading is quick and easy with no finger biting.
Mags are easy to load. (5, 10, and 12 round mags available) and now 20 round drums.
design is simple and easy to clean. If you are familiar with AKM the Vepr 12 is very close in operation.
    No pumping.
ease of use allows any one to use it: wife, kids, that monkey with the AK

The only negative it does not like low powered shells until it is good and broken-in but that is temporary.
For a hundred or so you could make it 922r compliant and use the folding stock.
    oh, Mags can be pricey.

Classic firearms has a sale going on them right now at 899. They may come down more in the future depending on availability.

I dunno about the mka 1919 but i know the mags are CRAZY expensive. There are not as many aftermarkets parts ether.
But they are a fair deal cheaper last time i checked.

Thank you for the response. Can you please tell me what I need to make it 922r compliant? Can the folding stock be unwelded or the hinge replaced to make it functional?

To make it 922r compliant most people replace the trigger with a tapco g2 trigger. (There are a million how to videos on this) That counts for 3 parts. If you have US mags that counts for another 3 parts also which give you the six parts you need. But it wont be legal to use your stock mag since it is an imports. Im guessing many people just sell it and use US mags. Other easy part to replace is the pistol grip, forearm, the gas piston which on the vepr 12 is considered that little puck on the end of the gas rod.
and of course the stock but that defeats the point this time.

The pictures from above are the lucky guys who got the small weld. Mine was a little bit bigger and on a corner. It took a little longer to remove.
