I have an Index brand vertical mill for sale. Unknown date of manufactor. Mill is located at my home shop in denham springs and can be seen upon request.

Has power feed on the table and the quill.

Everything on this mill works and I can demonstrate.

Speed can be adjusted by changing the belt around on the pullys on the head.

    Does run on 3 phase.

    Asking price is $1500.

Also I can show the buyer how to build a 3phase converter so it can be powered by single phase.

I'm trying to think who I know in DS that has #1 a shop big enough to put that thing in and #2 knows how to use it...

Oh, and #3 knows how to build a 3 phase converter.

Hmmmmmm I'm bound to know you.

Best to get a VFD drive from ebay for around $100. You can get one that will drive the 3 phase motor and give you variable speed.
I put one on a friend's South Bend lathe and one on his Bridgeport mill.
That mill looks similar to a Bridgeport, maybe bigger.
    How wide is that table?
    What taper is the spindle?

Im not sure a vfd would be a good idea as the power feed us transformed to single phase, I think. Im not sure how that would work without some research. I'll have a look see tomorrow on how this one is set up. Also if you plan on running more equipment, a converter is better as you have to double vfd size when running from single phase. A converter will run anything smaller than the idler motor.

I guess you could repower the feed from another source. That way you could adjust the speed with the vfd.
