Thank you to all of our veterans be they male / female/ and even our 4 legged War Dogs. Also the National Guard and other reserve forces that might have deployed or stayed stateside in support services. . But one of the most unrecognized service = Merchant Marines who transported supplies and other things across the open seas without armament or escort cover. ........ God bless our troops be they past / present / and future. .................................. drill sgt.

I spent 9 years in the Merchant Marine and when we arrived in a War Zone such as Viet Nam Armed American Soldiers would come aboard and drop depth charges as we went up the river.
I worked in the Engine Room and no one told me about the depth charges and I thought we had been hit the first time I heard one.
We went to Vung Tau, Saigon and Da Nang Viet Nam on three different trips. All Merchant Marine Credentials are issued by USCG.
I could tell a Viet Cong Story I have never told about Vung Tau but no one would believe it.
Anyone in the United States Merchant Marine who served in any War Zone at any time has Veteran Status.

Next time I see you I’m going to need to hear that story Mr James!!! I bet a depth charge in a confined space is a heck of a sound.
