hello, a few years ago my dad bought my mom a walther ppk. im not familiar with handguns at all and I tried shooting it a few weeks back and it seems that if I rack the slide it shoots the first shot but will not shoot again. its supposed to be a semiautomatic, this cant be normal right? I sent it to the factory for repair and they sent it back but it still does the same thing. I havent had a chance to call them yet to ask what they found.

it was hollow point ammo, havent tried the other mag. it loads the round fine. once I take the first shot, it loads the next cartridge and the hammer is cocked. if I pull the trigger to shoot the 2nd shot the hammer moves forward like it should but it just clicks and doesnt fire. I can keep pulling the trigger and the hammer does like it should but it never fires. its weird. This gun had been sent off for the recall repair already, and when I got it back is when I noticed this issue.

I'm sorry I just don't have enough information to help you. I would be willing to meet you at a public range and try to diagnose it a little better. I could tell a gunsmith what it's doing but I couldn't fix it myself.

so I sent it back a few weeks ago, just got it back day before yesterday, went pickup a different brand of ammo and same thing. I looked at the primer of the bullet once it would not fire and it looks like the firing pin is not striking the primer as hard when it doesnt fire. You can clearly see the difference on the firing pin strike on the primer's that do ignite. It does this at least once out of every 6 bullets.

Not sure what to do now. this is the 3rd time this gun has been back to the manufacturer, once for the recall and twice for this repair that they cant seem to fix. Im gonna ask them to replace it. If they wont I guess Ill have to throw away a 600 dollar gun since it is useless if it doesnt fire.
