Was "picking" thru my Dad's stuff this past weekend and found a Weaver T6 scope in an old filing cabinet. He can't recall when or where he aquired it so he has no receipt for waranty purposes.

The lense on the big end looks to have some sort of film on it. It looks like someone wiped it off with an oily towel :( I want to send it to Weaver, have it fixed and use it on my AR15.

What are your opinions on this scope and will it work for predator hunting primarily in open fields.

If it is worth fooling with, anyone got a receipt I could get a copy of ;)

The Weaver T6 is a well made scope
The lens looks funny because the chemical coatings have worn off

I would doubt if Weaver would do waranty work with or without the receipt
They might refurbish it for a fee

As far as the scope being good for predator hunting, only you can decide that.
Just my thoughts but the reticle and straight 6 power make it a better rimfire scope than an AR scope. I sold my T6 several years ago. It's a great scope for some applications i'm sure. I couldn't find one

Yeah, I will call Weaver tomorrow and see what they can do. I certainly will never buy one myself now that I know their warranty policy. Heck, even Simmons treats folks better than Weaver. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, at least it isn't an old Redfield (have one of those too).

I may try it out before I send it in to see how the internals are working.

Because this scope is old (steel tube) Weaver referred me to a company called Iron Sight Inc. They refurbish scopes (Weaver, Redfield, Leatherwood and others) and here is their contact info for anyone needing repair work.

They charge a flat rate and turn around time is 6-8 months.
