Well I finally done gone and did it--NOW WITH PICS!

After years of dipping my toes in the pool, I finally said "F it!" and jumped right into the deep end! I bought an AR. I know this thread is useless without pics, so until it gets to AFFS, just suffice to say it's not black and it's 7.62 NATO. Once it gets here I'll update with mucho porno!

Now I need to learn as much as I can about ABM, (Anybody But Magpul), accessory mfgrs.
Of course it's an AR, so it comes with Magpul **** on it. Any suggestions on quality makers of grips,VFG's,stocks,BUIS', etc? I know Troy, BCM, Larue, VLTOR, Tango Down. Who else? I know I'm missing a bunch. I don't necessarily hate MP, but I also don't think they are the best out there just because they say they are. I've already accepted that 20rnd Pmags will me used.

C'mon now! That's clearly the wrong caliber. Maybe because a .30 cal AR is so manly that no ghey color paint will adhere to it??

Nothing really. I'm sure their stuff is fine. I'd just rather not have my gun look like every other one on the line that looks like a Magpul catalog threw up on it. Just gotta be me!

^^^^That I do get. I think only my pistol grip is magpul right now.

After trying out a bunch of the others, I have decided that the MIAD grip system, by Magpul is my favorite. I like that you can change out grip panels to fit your hand and it is the only one that feels big enough to me. I like pmags, and their PRS stock, but after that, I agree with you that the rest is way too common for my taste.

I really dislike the MOE hand guard and most of their adjustable stocks. Or any adjustable stock for that matter. Once you get your beard hair caught in one a couple of times you will agree that adjustability is overrated. I use an Ace Skeleton stock on my gaming gun. The only adj stock I have is on my son's 300BLK for obvious reasons.

Patriot Ordnance Factory P-308 in full NP3 coating. (Upper,Lower,Bolt,etc)
Ordered it from Buds on Friday morning, and picked it up from Roger at AFFS today at lunch. Can't beat that for quick and efficient. Going to pull the CTR off and put a LMT SOPMOD on, and I think I've narrowed down the MBUIS to the Troy flipup HK's. VFG,optic,sling,QR mounts, etc will be covered by LaRue/Eotech/VLTOR,Viking Tactics.....

Words can not properly express how bad I want to go put some rounds downrange right now!!!!

I'm probably gonna run Eotech EXPS-2 with the possible addition down the line of a 3x side flip if I think it's really needed. And of course a good quality set of folding BUIS'. Likely Troy, but I was shown some PRI's that are interesting.

I really like their MOE grip. I just ordered their ACS-L stock, because the LMT, while comfortable, cants your head a lot. I have read that the ACS is much better in this regard. I can sell the one I don't like for hardly any loss, so why not try both?

I think people dislike Magpul because it's "hyped up" a lot. Not because it is junk.

Just picked up some BUIS's today. Wound up with the Troy folders. HK front and standard rear. Now I can go shoot this weekend and not have to wait for the big brown truck 'o goodies!
