Any ideas on what could be eating the satsumas while on the tree? I've never had this issue before. And I've never seen any raccoons, opossums, rats or other creatures in this tree before. The "feeding" usually occurs at night time. The leaves do not show any signs of damage from caterpillars etc. Thanks for any input.

It was me. I did it. I was in the mood for unripened fruit. Sorry. I won't do it again.

Been sitting outside since my post. Rats coming under a small area of fence from neighbors yard. 2 down with the .22 pellet gun.

Any ideas on how to take care of rats coming from neighbors yard? Part of satsuma tree hangs over his fence. But rats could possibly also jump from other trees or walk along fence.

    Thanks for any input.

I'd guess tree rats, like Mojo said, they eat my neighbors and look just like your pic. But if you're seeing brown rats, maybe the squirrels are sharing, ha. Btw, that looks to be caterpillar damage on the leaf in first pic, top left foreground, on top right of leaf. But caterpillars like the leaveses, not the fruitses.

Oh, I like your style with the pellet gun!

You have the solution with the .22. Rat traps would need to be brought in in am to avoid trapping birds, have a pro set some bait boxes that will draw the rats to poisoned food, much safer for all.

    A vegan chupacabra!

Looks like small rodent to me also. I live in the middle of town, we had brown rats eating my figs. Good old Victor knuckle breaker rat traps worked.

I had the same problem with oranges a few years ago. I thought squirrels were eating them until one night I caught a big fat rat red handed.
