My 16" bushmaster measures 33" collapsed so it should fit.

That is a good point, but when i buy a case, it belongs to that weapon system, kinda like a sling or a holster. That said, you do not want the case too big or the weapon will slide around in it. That is the issue I have with my current rifle bag.
