Unless this is solely for comedy, there are many reasons there is disparity. The info I am getting indicates that the vast majority of the murders committed in Chicago are gang related (I suppose they are including drug related numbers as gang violence as well); as the main reason. They apparently have a bigger gang problem than in Houston.

These are primarily black on black as well.

    Chicago unemployment rate 10.9
    houston unemployment rate 6.2

It's almost as if socioeconomic factors play more of a part in violent crime then the availability of weapons.

Anyone else see the Billboard in Baton Rouge on the North side while heading east bound? "BATON ROUGE HAS A HIGHER MURDER RATE THAN CHICAGO"

It is understandable, Baton Rouge is a city with a smaller population, so a murder that occurs there is more significant then in Chicago. I am sure that if you broke down Chicago murders geographically, you would see that the murder rate on the southside is way higher then BR. This is why the numbers out of Flint, MI are so staggering, there is a high murder count, but a very low population. My question for them would be "Would you want to live in the worst neighborhood in BR, or the worst neighborhood in Chicago"
