Hi all, i live in Eunice and im not familiar with the ranges in La. Id like to start doing some competition pistol shooting without having to drive too far. So.. my question is whats available as far as regular matches within a reasonable distance, indoor or outdoor? Not really interested in cowboy action or the run and shoot style. Id also like to find something affordable to start. Should i be looking at .22s or a larger cal.? I dont want to buy a pistol then find out its wrong for the type of matches in my area.:help:

If you live in Eunice, you might have to concede to driving a good distance to shoot competition matches. I am not familar with any competitions in that area of the state.

I am lucky on the other hand. I live dead center in the middle of shooters Paridise. There is any kind of competition match you can think of within a 40 minute drive from my house.

There use to be some matches held in the Lake Charles area but I can't find any recent info on them. You might try calling Custom Guns in Lafayette, 337-984-0721. Ask for Darrel Hebert. He use to run the cowboy matches in Lafayette when they had them. He may be able to point you in the right direction.

You might try doing a search for Single Action Shooting Society (I think thats it :D) or S.A.S.S.

IDPA is what you looking for, all you need is a simi pistol 3 mags. Or a 6 shooter and some speed loaders.
    Holster and mag holders.

Shoot from from cover tack-reloads etc.

    Look up IDPA

There is a group that shoots some in Leesville, LA. Contact Jack Travers at 561-317-9096 for more info. I don't think they have a website.
