I didnt know that roux spoons were metal, All of mine are wooden..

I would suggest you send food, but they wont know how to cook it.

Bring them down here, but please for the love of god, do not take them to Nola, If I had been shown Nola before Houma, or Lafayette, even Rayne and the swamp, I would not have came back.

    Somewhere
CDM Coffee, Beignet mix, Spanish moss.

Did you go to the gift shop at the Historic New Orleans Collection? Address is 533 Royal Street, and it's free to get in. They have a ton of stuff for sale. Very local, and from the looks of things, high quality.

There's a shop in the French quarter that has made in new Orleans paper mâché mardi grad mask. That's new Orleans more than Cajun, but it's authentic.

If they like to read and want to learn a bit of Louisiana history and history of our food not to mention how to cook a real meal, I highly recommend Chef Folse's book, The Encyclopedia of Cajun & Creole Cuisine. I can't say enough good about this book. The history of Louisiana and culture alone is worth the price not to mention the unique drinks originating and native to Louisiana.

A chartered fishing trip and a plane ticket. If he can't make it fishing use the fishing trip and just send the plane ticket. If he can't use the plane ticket send him a thank you note for saving you enough money that a chartered deep sea fishing trip out of Key West Fla. is now possile for yourself.

    Send him some pralines.

    That's pray-lenes to him.
    :eh:

    Praw-leens.. :squint:

A Louisiana products gift basket (jamabalya mix, gumbo mix, cobbler mix and such) as well as a couple of community coffee sampler packs should do the trick.

Maybe a Troy Landry 'Choot 'Em shirt? :)
