What's a zombie? Never seen a real one, oops, I forgot, I think there's one at the white house.

AR-15 with a 1-8x scope.

Not too terribly heavy, could use the rifle to hunt as well as defend yourself. Could carry lots of ammo and find/vulture ammo from the dead.

Scope would allow you to engage up close quickly or up to longer distances, and the 8x magnification would assist with headshots at all distances.

Genetically engineered and modified plants are your best defense against zombies. Though difficult to obtain and slow to reload, the "corn cannon" is undoubtedly the most effective deterrent, with the "blue cabbage catapult" a distant second.

This thread is EPIC! Love the responses. I think you can't go wrong with Chuck Norris. But If I did have to have just one weapon, I agree that an authentic samurai sword would be the best. No ammo to run out and the slicing advantage would make it easy to pop off the heads of zombies rather easily.

The trouble is that most Samurai swords aren't really Samurai swords (katana) anymore. Most of what's out there are cheaply made imitations... so brittle you wouldn't survive the first zombie wave. Plus, you'd really need require menkyo in one sort of sword technique or another (nitto ryu, kendo, etc.) to be effective.
