Rob Pincus just said on his Youtube live show that the #1 Pistol that Fails the most
without question in every single class is the 1911.

When asked live in the comments section which gun fails the most,
    he didn't even hesitate.

He said that if more than one shooter shows up in a class with a 1911's
that he'll buy your lunch if just 1 doesn't fail significantly by lunch time.

    Ok found it.

@ 38:55 "What Pistols fail the most at your classes" is asked.

1911 comes out his mouth almost before the question is finished being asked.

I was wrong about the lunch part, (Going off of memory) :p
    he actually said,
If a 1911 shows up, he'll bet cash money that it won't make it until lunch
the first day without a problem.
If it does make it til lunch, he'll point it out and applaud.

or pretty close to that ;)

It's 100% true. Having attended and/or observed probably 40-50 training classes, I think I've seen ONE 1911 make it through the day without choking. And I've seen everything from $400 Rock Islands to full blown $4000 custom pistols. You have to witness it though, because you'll never hear it out of the owner's mouth. There's some strange denial thing that comes with shooting 1911s. It's an ammo problem, it's a mag problem, it isn't broken in yet, it's too worn, it needs lube, it has too much lube, the humidity is too high, it's the wrong moon phase...

One sure thing you can do with a $3K 1911 that you can't do with a Glock 19 is sell it and buy 7 Glock 19s.

I'd consider that better- in a roundabout way. :)

    Pfffff...

The AK Question is asked @ 37:05

He actually said the AK is a very viable weapon
and has no problems with using it or training people to use it.

He said that several years ago he was seeing 30-50% of his class with AK's.
Now it's back down to 10% or less?

So in his opinion he thinks the AK Spring
turned out to be a little bit of a fad
    that has now gone away.

He never degraded the AK itself,
just that the amount of people using it in his classes
turned out to be a short lived fad.

    Listen for yourself ;)

Why is a Corvette ZR1 better than an Impala? They will both get you where you're going. :)

id rather drive a tac into my toe than drive a GM car.

and if you're likening a 1911 and glock to vehicles, its more like a cadillac escalade vs a toyota 4x4. the caddie pretends it can go offroad, and it thinks its superior to the toyota because it costs double. The brochure tells the owner that despite its padded leather seats and 4-zone air conditioning that it'll get you through the darkest of times.

In reality... it either leaves you on the side of a highway in broad daylight or gets stolen because you flaunted and left it out for everyone to envy.

The toyota will end up on a classified site 200,000 miles later and be bought to continue going off-road.
