Got to Love Time Magazine...notice the implication of the Tea Party: possible civil war, militia movement. They knowingly keep pushing this obvious bogus notion of the tea party movement, for obvious reasons. But, alas Mr. Gandel, most folks ain't buying it.

"But, with the Tea Party gaining followers, the idea of civil war over economic issues doesn't seem that far-fetched these days. And Ron Paul definitely thinks the Fed should be ended. In TIME's recently cover story on the militia movement many said these groups are powder kegs looking for a catalyst."

the party that won the first "Civil War" (more properly called the War Between the States or the War for Southern Independence) is still in charge. The party of Progressivism, Socialism, Big Business, Big Banks, Big Government, Big Wars, Big Nationalism. The Democrats today are the same as the Republicans. The Republicans are, in spite of their bone throwing appeal to red states in the South and West, the same as they they were 150 years ago.

I think a secession movement is coming. We already have like 32 states passing resolutions to nullify Obamacare, UnConstitutional gun laws, bailouts, or all of the above. Then we have the government allowing and even protecting invaders from Mexico. Then we have the government declaring emminant domain to build more Interstate Hwys and Wal-Marts. Obama recently announced that he is going to "rebuild our infrastructure" This is right off the "to do" list of Abraham Lincoln, Henry Clay and Alexander Hamilton. The American System. People are also getting tired of the IRS and Income Tax, but nothing is ever done by Neoconservatives that rule the Republican party.
With all that being said...why should we be surprised if another Secession movement is coming. Let's hope the Blue states don't decide to invade again....I'm not even sure they could find men in the military willing to do it

The only thing that is going to stop that from happening is an event to once again establish blind patriotism in this country. I have a feeling another
    2001 is coming.

Louisiana Senate Unanimously Affirms 10th Amendment - May 11, 2009

On May 11, 2009, the Louisiana State Senate voted unanimously in support of Senate Concurrent Resolution 2 (SCR2), which “Memorializes Congress to affirm Louisiana’s sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America and to demand that the federal government halt its practices of assuming powers and imposing mandates upon the states for purposes not enumerated by the Constitution of the United States of America.”

I can't find any information that is more recent.

I am all for states rights

Me too. To a point though. That point would be those powers specifically granted to the federal government under the Constitution.

    No more. No less.

Problem today is that progressives want the General Welfare clause to be the start and finish of the Constitution. And that has been a progression since at least the early 1920's. To where we are today. Gonna take LOT to undo how far off track we've come from what was intended.

    Just my .02.

Yup, gonna take bloodshed to get it back. That's why we're not gonna get it back.

Not advocating, inciting or sayin' I want that or anything else. Just sayin' that's what it will take. They've burrowed too deep for too long.

Violence is what some seem to want. Initiate and it will exactly what you receive double super-sized helpings of.

Violence is NOT the answer. Many feel they "have the minerals" to take on troops. These people must be outed as either delusional or agents provocateurs.

The Elite wish for America to cease to exist. A Civil War will do just that because they are waiting - just as they did in 1861 to throw the balance of power to take over. Why people cannot get this through their heads I'll never know. Perhaps they have a need to die under the treads of an APC or something...

The federal reserve needs to go but you cant point a gun at a banking system and tell it to leave. I don't see the connection to armed conflict. A monetary reform act seems more likely. Our congress can snip the balls off of this beast but we need to vote some people with balls in...

Push could come to shove ...there are several nullification issues going on now...at some point the Federal Government may decide to steamroll the state...Didn't Alabama use nullification just be fore the Troops marched in ( in the late 50's or 60's ) ...don't remember all that clearly

Violence is not the answer...not too long ago I thought it would be...but now I believe thats just what the PTB are waiting on...violence may be where we end up, but I ain't gonna start it

And we aint gonna finish it, either. FAR too many weapons at their disposal. And when we consider the massive genocidal depopulation campaign, well, those who wish to "fight it out" will be welcomed by whatever forces are mustered against us. Biological and Chemical weaponry would probably be ideal in this circumstances. Poison the water and food supplies and there would be a large die off. Herd up and out what they want or don't want and the remainder would be slaves.

All the better if they can foment WIDESPREAD civil unrest - like the secessionists and race-based violent groups. Couple our open borders and I'd say that their chances of winning are just about guaranteed if we try to implement Violence as a response.

I also don't put nukes out of the picture, either. Sept 11th should scare the **** out of everyone here.

I don't get it. Many here believe that "they" are prepared to turn the military on "us", but that they will just quietly go away if we win at the polls.

Either I'm immensely dense, or somebody around here got the super duper, industrial strength rose colored glasses.

Actually, I don't know damned well what you mean. You have a wealth of information on how far up that creek we are. But, I see no plausible solution offered. So my post on plowshares is absolutely valid.
