IIRC only "non-essential" offices are shut down. Don't be scurred. It's happened before in 1981, 1984, 1990 and 1995 according to Wikipedia. You probably wouldn't even notice.

Everyone will get paid, even the "non-essential" folks. At worst, the domestic government drones will get furloughed, then when the government reopens to screw with us, they'll get all their pay. That's the way it works.

It sure hit a lot of our guys hard today. Be sure to write your politicians and tell them what you think.

As far as I can tell, unless they come to an agreement by midnight, we won't be getting paid for 9 April and later. We WILL be getting paid for 1-8 April, so the check on the 15th will be a half-check. Some banks, like Navy Federal, have come out to say that they will issue full checks regardless, using the back pay from the government to cover their losses. I just spoke to someone from USAA and he told me that they are working on something now. They should have more info out by Monday.

I talked to a FEMA employee today. Their pay is guaranteed. They will be working next week no matter what happens. I feel better already...
