anybody know of a wooded(not swamp) (light to no underbrush) place where i can take my 2 dogs to play/run around? they love the trails @ tickfaw and fontainebleau, but id like to let them off the leashes. i live in hammond, so within an hour or so would be max.

Maybe the Bonne Carre spillway? Lots of open land there.
If you go to the spillway, stay on the land closer to the river. The hunting retriever club kind of polices the area for gators. Not so closer to the lake.

If anyone is interested the Ponchartrain Hunting Retriever Club is having an UKC hunt test at the spillway this weekend.

I was looking for a place to let my dog swim. I was going to let her try the spillway beach along airline. I pulled up but spotted about a 6' gator...

There is an undeveloped office park right across from the Fairview State Park in Madisonville on Hwy 22. It's has grassy fields with live oaks, but can get a little soggy when it rains a lot. I've taken my son there to fly kites and picnic.
