no not vtr I assumed vtr was abbreviation for varmint. my mistake so now it is clear NOT VTR. nothing on end of barrel

The Rem is probably the SPS Varmint. The VTRs IIRC have the green stocks and triangular barrels with two horizontal cuts that act as a sort of muzzle brake.

They make a 700P, too. Mine had "700P" stamped on the barrel and had a 1/12 twist.
