wwII Era Lifeboat Compass
Measures 7" x 7" on the base and almost 9 inches tall. It is very heavy.
Don't know much about this item it was packed away from my grandfather.
My limited research shows it is a Lifeboat Compass from WW2 era.
The Housing is constructed of copper I can see it from where some of the black paint has chipped off.
The Compass works as it should and is fluid filled.
The Glass is intact and one corner has a small corner chip that can't be seen while installed.
The lamp is missing but the door works and latches like it should.
There seems to be a small plate missing in the front that retains the glass however the glass does stay in place and is very snug in the frame it slides into.
No visible id markings.
It appears to have a factory type black paint job that is chipping in places exposing the copper underneath.
I have not attempted to remove any paint and just left it the way I found it.
New owner can decide if they want to strip and polish the outer case.
Asking $200 shipped.
Payment via Paypal (gift preferred) or USPS money order.
