My money is on slow fired at 25 feet.

My best shooting was more than 10 years ago when my 25 yard groups firing 17 rounds from a G17/G34 would be in the 4" range.
I never could shoot 17 rounds in sub 4" groups and with old age, bad eyes and now trembling hands the groups get bigger each year.
Most of my shooting is not done at distance or slow fire.
We may never know if the target posted was shot at 25 yards.

That's nice shooting but it's in no way representative
    Of non consensual gun play.

Well there's your problem right there. I am 100% against non-consensual gun play. IMHO it has no place in a civilized society. You either ask your enemy to consent to you shooting him and then agree to stand still while you commence, or you just don't shoot him at all.

I'm about the same as you, I don't shoot at distance enough, and I almost never slow fire. As far as your declining groups go, I'm sure they're still significantly better than mine.

I'm just curious as to why so many have switched to Glocks. I was over from 02-04 and don't remember ever seeing them. Lots of HK and m9s with us units depending (occasional 1911) and a mix of stuff with the Czechs, frogs, etc. Dark siders just carried whatever they wanted.

    Longer service life, more reliability?
Don't ask me. I have never held one single Glock model that felt comfortable in my hand. 1911's fit me like a glove.

Reading the article, the author claims a particular army Unit has dropped .40 in favor of 9mm. Coming from a reliable A1 grade source, they only use 9mm for niche missions. The .40 is the primary caliber for sidearms, and will be for the foreseeable future. It is the preferred side arm of said Unit. Reliability is not an issue. The G22/35 has surpassed tens of thousands of rounds in torture testing.

This Unit has only G19/26 for times when a compact frame is required. Operators will often opt to carry the G22 concealed, even when the smaller frame makes sense. There is not one G17/34 in the arms room.

Performance testing and real world encounters by this Unit have settled the .40 / 9mm debate, at least within their small circle. They do complain of the "snappiness" of the round, as compared to the previous caliber. Dry fire and range fire have alleviated the issue.

Isn't the usp just a copy of the mk23? Thought it was the name they gave the civilian version. Semantics aside I thought it was the same other than a little size

As someone that actually deployed back in the day with a mk23, and owns a USP, there are differences besides size. However, the MK23 was just a little too bulky. I lamented the switch from 1911 to MK23 but I welcomed the switch to P226 and P228 .

On a serious note I believe if the MK23 was USP sized it would have had a longer shelf life. When I retired in 2013 we still had some MK23s in the racks in the armory, however, most folks were carrying SIGs.

Yeah, never carried a sidearm overseas but was around a lot of guys with usps and sigs (guess they deemed the 249 a little heavy). Seemed the usp was really popular with certain bearded types but this was over a decade ago. Seems things have changed a lot.

Maybe, but it shows I'm probably going to hit what I aim at. So I shouldn't need a double stack pistol. If it takes more than a couple shots, I should be running, not shooting.

hitting a target in an air conditioned range isn't hitting a target under stress that is moving and shooting back at you.

    just saying
