I am trying to decide which to carry. I currently have a Ruger lcr but want a 9mm. Used to have the shield (with n82 holster) and liked it. Now that Glock has a single stack I'm considering it. Anyone have experiences with the Glock or with both by chance? I would love to shoot both but that doesn't appear to be an option at the ranges close by. I'm not a big guy so concealability/weight/width are huge factor for me (bc they are both reliable).

Since the G43's arrived I no longer own a Shield. Both good pistols but I prefer Glock pistols to M&P pistols. If you are ever in the Walker area you are welcome to shoot a G43 and I may be able to borrow a Shield if given some notice but several of my friends sold their Shield and purchased a G43.

I've never shot a shield. I do have a G43. Like any other Glock, it is reliable. After hundreds of rounds, I've yet to have one malfunction. It carries comfortable and with a +2 you get 9 rounds total in the gun. Great gun for when you need a smaller gun for whatever reason.

I have a Shield. I've shot 4 or 5 different FMJs and three different brands and weights of JHPs through it, totalling around 400 rounds, with no problems. I want the 43, but for no tangible reason, and I won't get one unless I can trade straight-up. Having owned the Shield and being comfortable with its reliability, if I were buying and had to choose between the two, I'd only get the Glock if I could get it within $50 of the Shield.

Actually, I do have one real reason I want to trade. I bought my Shield shortly before they released to no-safety model. When I get around to it, I'll trade it for either a no-safety Shield or a 43.

Good Luck! Both NIB the G43 sells for approximately $100 more than a Shield.

Yeah, if I get lucky, I'll go for the Glock, but I'm expecting to end up with a Shield, which isn't a disappointment. Or I might just feel like spending the extra just to have another Glock, I dunno.

I have a shield in .40 S&W that I am planning on selling or trading towards either a Shield in 9mm, the Glock 43, or the Walther PPS. Since going back to a 10mm for my oddball handgun caliber, the .40 S&W has no place in my collection. Its only saving grace is that I was able to purchase .40 S&W ammo after Sandy Hook whereas 9mm and .45 ACP got a little scarce for a while, thereby making me not want to practice with those particular calibers.

The thing I like most about Glock is that I own several and they all shoot the same. In fact, the Shield barely offers me much of a carry advantage over my Glock 26 when it comes to ease of concealment. Oh well, when I am not as busy, I'll revisit the selling or trading thing.

Just a heads up. We're running $354 on Shields if you decide to go that route.

I liked having the safety on my 9mm shield . I know that's close to blasphemy. (Yes I know the lecture about manual safeties). To me the safety was fluid to disengage and I like the added security when chambered. I have lots of tiny kids and its peace of mind. If I go the Shield route I'll get one with the safety again. That said, the n82 holster has a safety as well with the twist and unlock system so I feel fine carrying the Glock.

My understanding is that the Glock is wider by .05 or so but is 2 or 3 oz lighter. I'm curious which is a) more comfortable to carry and b) which prints less. Not sure there is much difference there but would love to know if there is.

Sounds like a negligible difference to me. I doubt it'd be noticeable if both were in the same style holster.

Mine stays holstered at all times. While the safety is easy to operate, I always leave it off. I'm usually pretty thoughtful in my actions, but I've never been faced with a life-or-death situation. I want everything to be as simple as possible if the need to use it arises. I don't want there to even be a possibility of my safety being engaged. The other gun I practice a lot with and plan to go to in my house is a Glock, I'd like to keep the operation as similar as possible.

You might want to look at the Ruger LC9s as well. Ruger got this one right. Good sights, can be had with or without a manual safety and a better trigger than any of the other guns in this arena. And it's cheaper than the rest.

Any one ever used an ankle holster with the Shield or 43? (I don't usually IWB carry with tucked in shirt) Curious is the extra grip length on Shield would make it print more.

Really like my shield in 9mm no safety. Have not had the chance to shoot G43 but i'm sure it's good also. That said the Shield holds 2 more rounds and costs less.

I bought the Shield 9mm for my wife, no issues with it at all, but wish I would have bought the Springfield XDS instead. I have never held or fired the Glock 43, so I cannot give any feedback on it.
