I'm sure this has been done before, but it makes for a few laughs. Another thread sparked the idea to do it (again).

I recently talked with a non-gun person about firearms (not really anti-gun, just doesn't own one, because they don't see a need for one), so it got me thinking. We all have had a conversation at one point or another, with someone that has no idea what they are talking about. I'll admit it, when I first got into firearms, I was for certain that the movies were always right :hs: I've learned better since then, and I'm sure y'all have too. So what's some of the **** that you have heard over the years?

A few I hear often are people asking about gun registration, how you can buy any gun at a show without a background check, how it's illegal to own an AR since AR stands for assault rifle, and the best (to me) is when someone says you have register your gun when you get a concealed handgun permit :mamoru:

Not a firearm per se, but I have had people tell me the NRA is the reason gun violence is so high in the US. And they believed it too! :eek4:

But I've heard some of the stupidest **** I've ever heard about guns on this forum!

    LOL WTF

You care more about your *right* to own a gun than you care about my right to live without the fear that members of my family or my friends might be shot and killed at school, at the movies, in our car, on the job, in church … anywhere. Anywhere at all.

Yes, of course I care about my rights and I care about everyone's right to live, but it's not my damn job to make sure that they survive ;)

People, like the author of the article, expect everyone else to do things for them. It's pitiful.

Anybody still have the picture of the Laser Judge?

Here is one that just came to mind; A guy tried to make me believe that a bullet from a rifle actually rises when it leaves the barrel. And he would have nothing of physics and science from me. So I asked him, "Then does that mean if you turn the gun on it's side and shoot it, the bullet will curve left or right?" He replies, "It still rises!" So then I asked, "How does the gun know when you are shooting it right side up?"

My first thought was when I was explaining how you have to compensate for bullet drop, and a guy at the range seriously thought that bullets went up out of the barrel. We must have been talking to the same guy!!!

I can't tell you how many times I've been told "If someone breaks in, I'm gonna shoot them in the knee cap, then I'll kill him when he's on the ground." :ugh:

I don't get where people learn this stuff, but sometimes it's quite scary.

Could be from this ****: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFaLokC9hqk

"Has been marked private by it's owner" so the link doesn't work anymore. Maybe the dimwit didn't get quite the reaction he hoped for. You would hope anyway.

My two favorite are when people act all worried cause they didn't register their gun. I'm thinking wtf!? Or "I don't buy from gun stores cause i don't want it to be registered and the government to come take my guns". Another one I was baffled by was, "a .22 is the most dangerous because it will bounce around inside someone's body, it may go in their head and come out their big toe." I'm not making that up either. Somehow these people are able to survive and reproduce. I don't know how.

I use to like the "gun guys" that would come into the shop that I worked the counter in and freak out because the hammer was back on my 1911:eek3:

They use to ask me why I carried it that way or tell me it was dangerous and I shouldn't carry it.

The stupidity you see in a gun shop is beyond belief. Rounds loaded backwards into revolver cylinders and beaten closed, rounds loaded backwards into pistol mags and slide beat forward, then there were the NDs from the guns we were assured were "unloaded".

Ive seen and heard some crazy **** in the past 5 or so years working in the firearms industry, but it sounds like you've had the best of it! Haha.

I think I want to make a list/thread containing quotes....no matter how stupid or repetitious they are. It would bring a whole new level of entertainment to bayoushooter and the internet as well.

Statement by a guy at the Academy on Airline Hwy . " It's a Federal law that you have to lock your guns up in your home . If a burglar steals your guns , you are responsible if it is used to commit a crime ". I told the prospective buyer ( young woman ) that he was full of crap .
