That statement is true. You are shooting to stop a threat and if that involves a suspect loosing there life so be it.

Thats not what the person making the comment meant. They think that cops should shoot to wound (in the leg, hand, etc.).

Yeah I can see what they may have meant now BUT your trained to aim for center mass not a small target such as a hand that you would prob miss. If you shoot the leg your still leaving the threat capable of returning fire and who wants to be shot back at? Not this guy.
