I had a personal encounter with the Sign Nazi. He thought he was going to take up one of my signs as soon as I placed it. He would have run me over if he had the chance, the deal is we don't just dump signs, we talk to property owners before placing a sign. Sure, sometimes they end up in a Right of Way, but most are on private property and I informed him the sign he was stealing was on private property and if it wasn't replaced without damage I would press charges. He jumped in his truck and sped off. I am sure he got a bunch of other signs, the guys that cut the grass where I have signs placed pull them up and put them back or cut around them. My signs tend to be more popular than your average stump grinding/headlight shining/window tinting/windshield repair signs.

God I wish someone would file charges against this guy for going onto private property and stealing a sign. Why people feel the need to interject their opinions on others just escapes me. Its sad that he probably actually thinks he is doing good!

Almost every City and Parish has ordinances against signs in the Right of Way and that is where most signs are placed.
They may be in front of a residence but almost always in the Right of Way and trash up the looks of a City..

Glad the guy's bit around here. I think it'd be fun to have a metal sign on a cemented piece of pipe. It might be entertaining to watch him try to pull it up.

GOOD - They are breaking the law!

RS 32:236 — Privately owned signs on public rights of way prohibited; exceptions; authority of municipalities and department of highways; advertising on convenience facilities at public transit stops

Since it also election time -- Louisiana state law (RS 18:1470) prohibits political signs from being erected, posted or displayed on publicly-owned property. Signs cannot appear in a publicly-owned right of way, utility poles or property.

The only issue I have is the signs being on public land......

Okay - let me get a bunch of yard signs made up with Internet Porn advertisements and put them up in the medians (that's a neutral ground for you locals!) I'll bet the local code enforcement or LEO's would be quick to take them down but for all other signs they seem to cast a blind eye.

Furthermore, lawn cutters will have to pick them up every time the grass needs to be cut -- more often than not they just cut around them and then the grass is 2' tall! This also goes for the "shrines" for people killed in traffic accidents. I'm not saying I don't feel bad for the families...but why a shrine there? My Dad died in Oschner Hospital room 306. I didn't go set up a shrine there and maintain it in that room.

IMHO - it just looks trashy anyway.

Okay - I put my flame suit on - take aim!!! hahaha
Look, I'm not against advertising or signs -- but there is a legal way to do it. Placement on public rights of way is prohibited by law --

You are correct on these points. I would be for having the person responsible for causing a fatal accident due to texting's head on a stick as a warning to other piles of worthless **** that text while driving as opposed to death shrines, however. It would serve a better purpose.

He's probably just someone that likes to mind the business of others like the old bastard I caught picking up a lost puppy sign at the entrance to my neighborhood. He said it brought down the property values. I told him that if his property value was going to be worriesome due to a lost puppy sign, he probably can't afford to live there.

I agree with you on shrines. I've repeatedly told all of my family members if I ever die in a traffic accident DO NOT erect a shrine for me in the place that I experienced the most pain and/or terror in my life. "See that white PVC cross with the dead flowers hung on it? That's where Verm crashed into a concrete embankment, tore his arm half off and bled out while screaming because his leg was on fire."

Furthermore, I don't want my family members risking their lives tending some morbid memorial on the side of the interstate.

I want to die in my sleep like my uncle Fred. I don't want to be all hollering and screaming like everyone else in Fred's car.

Good points! Particularly the danger to them on the Interstate, here. I see at least half (it's more though), of ALL people driving; texting and actively looking at their phones WHILE in motion. Why isn't B.R. courts the most well funded (through traffic citations), system in the country?

You LEO's need to get out there and start enforcing this crap. Meet me at my house on any given morning and ride with me to work. From Airline and Perkins to Parkview Baptist, we will see at least 15 individuals actively "texting" while actually "driving!" 12 of them will be stupid women!

Hahahaha - No, I'm not the sign Nazi!! I don't live anywhere near Baton Rouge!!

But if you want to advertise on public property, put a shirt on advertising whatever the heck you want to advertise, and stand on the median - I cannot stop that and legally you can do so....and that way when you leave so does your advertisement! But the minute you put a sign in the ground is when I have an issue......I guess it wouldn't be so bad if the people would remove the sign when they are done but this never happens!

DirtyDan - No, I'm not that callous to pick up a lost dog sign --, the problem is that these wire frame yard signs "Breed" more signs -- it is almost like a reminder for people to add their sign to the group..... And no, I don' want these signs in front of my neighborhood either because it looks like sh!t. There is a right and wrong way to do is all I'm standing up for. BTW, can I put an Internet Porn advertisement sign, or maybe a Jindal for President, maybe Hillary for Pope, on the closest median to your neighborhood? Just asking......

Emperor - YES - law should be changed to allow the responsible persons head on a stick -- until eaten by vultures then the stick needs to be removed!!!

Vermiform - "See that white PVC cross with the dead flowers hung on it? That's where Verm crashed into a concrete embankment, tore his arm half off and bled out while screaming because his leg was on fire." Laughing my @ss off!!!!
