Now that's an idea. Having a BS knife cryo'd by one of BS's sponsors ( Cajun Cryogenics ).

Thus making a special knife, specialer! :exnbp:

It would be a option for anyone who wants it, I will do it for $5/knife on this group deal for anyone who is interested. Mine will get it anyway.

Hell yeah! Now I am getting really excited. I have been wanting to see what all this was about before actually having one of my guns done.

Not to open a gate or anything, but I'm sure other makers will do custom runs as well. Not sure about Benchmade but I know Kershaw has in the past.

I'm not a knife collector; give me something that works - Spyderco Paramilitary II, Zero Tolerance, TDI Kaybar or Fairbarn-Sykes folder - and I'm good to go.

    However, I'd participate in this.

i would be in for one if the price was under 100

would also be up for having it ice cubed at the $5 cost :o

what are the benefits of deep freezing it? stays sharp longer?

The blade would be able to be sharpened to a keener edge and would hold an edge longer. Additionally the knife would be stronger and less likely to chip or break. Of course, You would not see the sharper edge until you sharpened it for the first time.

I'd assume it would also help with the sharpening process. Sometimes you can over sharpen the knife to a point where you roll the edge and have to start over. Same with over stropping.

    Is it harder to sharpen?

A Guy that I do some business with and who sharpens knives for a living says he can tell a difference when sharpening cryo'd knives, It may be a little harder. Spyderco will sharpen them for free and I plan on letting them do it. I have only used professional sharpeners on cryo'd knives but I have been very happy with the results, they are scary sharp and stay that way for a noticeably longer time.
