Did you notice they put the two loudest guns with the suppressed gun? I think they wanted to give our ears a break :mamoru:

I thought Ray won the tie breaker on the last string?:

Well, I was handed the winning price -- but if Kevin was the deserving one, I will gladly hand it over to him. My last string, the worse of the match for me, was 185-3x. I had a great time and enjoyed visiting with everyone. The wind was really frustrating, but I gained some much needed experience. Thanks to Rick, Ted, and especially Lanny for your efforts!

Ray,you are correct. Im looking at my scorecard right now and my scores are as follows:
    1st string 192-4x
    2nd string 192-6x
3rd string 184-2x for a total of 568-12x. Same exact total but my last string was one point behind yours. So i can confirm that you won the tie-breaker. Good shooting Ray!

I'm just seeing this and will be posting up the scores shortly. For some reason I thought I remembered that Kevin had won it, but looking at the sheet it was Ray who came away with the win! Like Rick said, it was some great shooting on both parts.

I hope you get everything straight with your new 6.5 Grendel,im intersted to see how those 120smk's are gonna do. I hope to make it next month,if so i might bring out the 6.5 creedmoor if i can find a good load for it. Trying the 140gr a-max first.

The weather was perfect and the winds were blowing for the 2nd Mid-range Field Precision Rifle match at Palo Alto on Saturday. Nine competitors came out to shoot against determined winds and swarming termites, but the match went smooth, safe, and everyone had a good time. In typical tradition we ran two divisions with five competitors shooting without a rear bag and four shooting with a rear bag.

Ray McClain took the top spot shooting with a bag, and had Kevin Dimartino nipping on his heels all the way to the end where both ended with the same score and x count. The tie breaker was determined by each final relay score. Ted Torres came away with first place honors shooting without a rear bag while putting a new suppressed .308 through it's paces. With over half a dozen shooters putting off till next month our May match is shaping up to be a nice one and we hope for the same mild weather and challenging winds! See you on the line.

Kevin, if I hadn't been such a slow thinker I would have offered to split the prize with you. Should have done that, just didn't think about it in time. You deserve the same credit -- good shooting! I will not be able to make the match in May, but will be wishing I was there. Good luck to all!

I checked when I got home and found I had a few rounds that the shoulder had not been bumped back enough. Went back out today with Ted and the remaining rounds shot fine. Chronographed around 2600 fps. That's 150 fps over my 16" G.

Why is Paul Kalman with the rear bag guys? He is my junior who was shooting a service rifle with a sling.

Because he wasn't competing in the match as per the rules. We allowed him to shoot on the 600yd prone target as well so he could practice for next weekend. Last month Nick shot in the same group but shot from a magazine instead of single loading.
