My first renewal is around the corner in 1/2014....I've gotten quite a few guns that would be excessive, for the lack of a better term, to shoot in a renewal class. I'm torn between a couple of my S&W revolvers. It's either my 629 Classic 8 3/8" or my Performance Center 500 7.5"....ah choices :draw:

With that being said....What is the most excessive, shake your head, LOL, HOLY SH*T gun you've seen, used, or desired to use for a CCW or other qualification type course?

Oh and pics are always good too

I used my m&p 9 compact for my course, but the last mag I used my suppressed fnp tactical just Bc I had it on me.

I think your rifle is missing a few parts there. I like how you fit in in a box with the smaller rifle too. Good touch.

I went the other direction and scored a 95 out of 100 using a $99 Norinco Tokarev 9mm much to the chagrin of the LEO Range Officer who had me qualify on the same course of fire his officers qualified on. This was back when LA was May Issue and to get a CHP your job had to require it, you needed LEO sign off and a 10k bond. Yes, I got the permit. I was an FFL and told myself I needed a CHP. :)

My two tone Thumb rest 7.62x25 213 Norinco 9mm convertible was a good gun not counting the crappy safety... I lusted after the .38 Super setup for it though...

    Why question is; Why?

I tried to answer that question for myself. I just couldnt come up with any justifiable explanation. I guess it would just give me good reason to pull the trigger on them a little more than i would at a normal range session.

In one the class I took, there were four 357's. One had a low slung western holster that the instructor started whistleiing the old gunfight tune from the westerns when the guy stepped to the firing line. It was hilarious. Then he tried shooting from the hip!!! Two others gripped the pistol with their strong arm and the strong arm wrist with their support hand....... Our instructor had a rough day that day! Lol. The last guy knew what he was doing a put up the best score in the class with a Ruger GP100.

I used my S&W M64 with a four inch, heavy barrel, for my last renewal. I don't believe that punishing myself with heavy recoil is needed to prove I'm a man.

The many .25 cal. off brand semi autos that women bring to the class always amaze me. A lot of time is spent by instructors trying to get them to work. What's the use?

I shot my .41mag S&W with a long barrel at my last qualification and it drew a lot of attention.

In the four classes I took, the only ones with revolvers were we old guys.

    YMMV
