Congrats and welcome to the Marine Corps family. My son didn't have a choice (I don't think) when he went to PI in 9/2002.

On 7/2, he started DI training at MCRD San Diego and will be there for the next 3 years after his graduation on 9/18. It will be a very long 3 years with no visits home during his DI rotation and follows three years in 29 stumps plus a year in the schoolhouse. My countdown for him is on -- 9 years to retirement.

Yeah, Parris Island summer sucks. I've never sweated so much in my damn life before these last three months. Most days when getting prepared for hygiene, I was so soaked in sweat that I looked like I just came from swim qual. Hell, I went to my recruiting station yesterday to PT with the poolees and I sweated enough by the time we were finished that I was able to wring my green skivvie shirt and sweat just poured onto the deck. Trace Adkins was onto something with that Parris Island in July line in Semper Fi...

Thanks for the welcomes. It feels incredible being part of this. So much more pride in saying, "I'm a Marine, " than the Air Force equivalent. No hate on my fellow Airmen, but this is on a whole different level.

Ah...I remember when I was a moto boot. Congratulations.

No **** right. He didn't miss a single Marine Corps Jargon in that post

Anyway Deano, it's b/c as a member of the United States Marine Corps, we bear our Branches Namesake,
thus making each one of us integral to the Corps itself in an exclusive way.

Hell I don't need to explain anything to you now, you know. ;)

Oh and I was 2nd BN too Errah! Drill! Platoon 2006.

Could you describe your Swim Qual. I've been hearing that there has been some major changes. Like did anyone make CWS 1?

What the **** is a deck? I'm pretty sure that was what we sunned on in Bogata. You poor brainwashed fella. Congrats on joining Uncle Sams Sand Pirates. Do yourself a huge favor and realize you don't know ****. When you meet those E4s-E6s with multiple Overseas Service Stripes realize you are not yet their equal, STFU, and learn.

I had a Marine on my deck once. She was an Intel Bird from the KIFC. Our eyes met in a bunker during a rocket attack at KAF. She dug the beard, I dug the lack of a penis. Our candle burned bright but only briefly.

Rearrange that in stanza form, and it would make an excellent poem, VG.

I do feel bad for him. I don't believe I'd ever be able to pull DI duty after seeing what they deal with. A bunch of 17-22 year old **** heads acting more immature than my 4 year old daughter. No effing thanks.

Swim qual at boot camp is basic only. I asked about it because for 1371, you have to qual at the next level up, B+, but that was a no go.

    On my deck
    I had a Marine
    An Intel bird
    From KIFC
    Away from home
    So very far
    In a dimly lit bunker
    In Kandahar
    With rockets bombarding
Our eyes made contact so tender
    She dug my beard
    I dug her gender
As I reached in her pants
    I was a bit surprised
    By the elephant trunk
    Between her thighs
    At first I was shocked
    And took brief pause
    Then I remembered Phuket
    And yelled "Ooh Rah"!
    A hole is a hole
    When you're under attack
    Don't ask, don't tell
    And never look back

    B+?

Guess they don't do CWS 1-4? anymore?

I got CWS-1 in Bootcamp and Q in the Fleet before going to Scout Swimmer.

Glad to see someone joining the fight, I am about to ship out for BCT for the LA national guard, and I have been through 3 RSP drills (Recruit sustainment program), and ship the 19th so I will be going dark for a while, hopefully once I get out I can get back into school and serve my country at the same time... Hoorah!
