    Weights an Standards, TESS, and ES units are issued them because they are illegal in commercial vehicles in Louisiana according to a Weights guy i spoke with.

    I observe traffic and find a car that's speeding. I visually estimate his speed and then use the radar/LIDAR to verify my visual estimation.

    Makes sense. So what about the officers just spamming? Are they lazy and just waiting on a meaningful ping off a fast mover without countermeasures, or did they somehow forget its on, or are they just trying to slow traffic to legal limits by purposefully triggering detectors...or...?

    Most units offer audible pulse feedback- it's great to hear a fast mover approaching so you can pick them out of the pack.
