Any idea how to get rid of these f'rs? I been out in the pond all night catching turtles to relocate them, and discovered that there are at least three three toed amphiuma swimming around. One bumped my foot and scared the crap out of me. I thought it was a moccasin till I hit it with the spotlight.

what is that, like a newt/eel type deal?

Man, there are so many non-indigenous species being introduced to our public and private waters here in the US that it's out of hand. I got nothin' for ya, but that sucks. I would shoot it with a shotgun and some #7 every time I saw one, and maybe I'd stop seeing them?

I know, heavy-handed and not very efficient, but my idea of fun isn't everyone's.

I've caught those while crawfishing before...

They have one at the nature center in Fairview State Park. If you don't want to kill them maybe the local high school science teachers would want them?

They aren't dangerous and only eat little things like worms or maybe frogs.
They hardly ever come out of the water either.

If they freak you that bad, catch them and give them to a science center.

They just remind me of snakes, which is my only real phobia so........ Yea. Weird thing, when I pulled it out of the water, it started doing a "death spin" like a gator does.

I have them in my pond. I've spied them sticking their head out of a pile of underwater leaves and they look just like a stick. Never been fast enough to noodle them.

They don't have lungs like Mud Puppies do so I'm sure it wasn't happy.

Meanwhile, the water moccasins were watching from the far bank.
    Laughing.....

    Planning.......

yeah, I've seen them before when I as younger in the ditches. We use to think they were snakes and we found out later they where salamanders, I would scream like a lil girl if one bumped me in the water at 3am. Don't like snakes, and really don't like snakes in the water. Ill
