Trading a Firearm out of state for another firearm

I am in the process of making a deal with a resident of Oklahoma. We are wanting to trade our two firearms (long rifles). Shipping my rifle would cost double the cost for gas for us to meet. I have called many shops in the area that we decided to meet in (Texas), all have told me they do not want to do a transfer with a .50 BMG. Why is that?

I can not just exchange the rifles FTF since it is across state lines right?

Are you sure about this.

Long guns can be shipped USPS Priority mail.
Shipping should be very reasonable.

Of course it will have to ship to a FFL.

I shipped a 90# crate through UPS 2 weeks ago. Go to their website and they will even give you instructions on shipping pallets. 70#'s is the limit that the driver can pick up at your place...
