Wisdom teeth help

I had 4 taken out when I was 18 two of them hadnt made it through the gums yet. I dont know what they gave me but it put me to sleep all day. I had the surgery early in the morning I just remeber my dad having to pick me up and put me in the wheel chair then in the truck. Then had to carry me in, I then took the pain killer as subscribed and my mouth was so numb I though I swallowed and evident-ally didnt and all the water and the pill came gushing back out my mouth. lol I got it right the second time and slept until 8 that night. I woke up feeling normal no pain at all I even had a t-bone steak that night and went to work the next day with absolutely no pain. My doctor told me that the surgeon makes all the difference and the pain the patient feels afterword and if its done right the mouth will be sore for 1-2 days, if not then expect 2 weeks.

My experience was similar. Slept like a baby. Barely remember coming home and woke up the next day bitching because somebody ate all my damned jello. Apparently I didn't sleep quite ALL day. LOL

Actually it sounds like you described Hydrocodone to me?

You are right, my bad. I get the two confused every now and then.

My doctor switched me from Hydrocodone 10/500 to Oxycodone 5 and I find that even taking 2 of the Oxycodone's doesn't seem to work as well on my pain as the Hydrocodone did.

Tell you what though, when I can eat solid food again, first damn meal I'm getting, is gonna be a huge MOUNTAIN of hotwings. God I miss those delicious little pieces of heaven. Maybe even some celery and blue cheese, just for the tradition of it.

So how are you feeling 6 days later? Hope I am wrong on the 2 week time frame.

They say that when you have your wisdom teeth out you lose half of your intelligence. Can you tell if that is true?

What is dry socket? I've been through a lot of pain, from shattered bones to punctured lungs and this hurts, but probably mainly because the oxycodone is nowhere near as strong as morphine. My main problem is not puking every time I try and take the medicine. I'm working on grinding it up and dissolving it in a powerade solution at the moment, but I can still majorly taste it because oxycodone does not dissolve well. Any tips on taking the pill or just the usual, "MAN UP AND SWALLOW YOU THAT DAMN PILL BOY!" Thank you all very much for your tips and wishes. I hope to be back out shooting and living my life by this weekend hopefully.

Man, it sounds like you need some liquid Lortab, that stuff was the ticket for me last time I had surgery on my throat. That and an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen. 800mg of Ibuprofen and I *almost* didn't need the pain med.

When I had mine taken out the Dr told me that if they started bleeding put a tea bag between the top and bottom and lightly bite down until the bleeding stops. Never had a problem with the bleeding myself but my older brother did and the tea bags worked.
