Guess I'll throw in something different on here. This is my 1962-65 era M1 carbine that I felt needed an upgrade or two. So I custom built the buttstock and chopped off the old one, extended the grip and refinished all the metall inside and out. It's whole new machine now. I did a short build thread of it in the gunsmith section too

My project is finished. Savage Model 10 Short Shank, Short Action. HS Precision M24 stock with aluminum frame bedding, Savage DMB metal with 10 rd Dark Eagle Custom Magazines, Voodoo tactical kydex cheek rest, Shillen Ultra Match stainless 10/1 .308 barrel, cut to 20 in, threaded and re-crowned by Ted Torres at Ritten Precision. All metal finished in Duracoat Tactical OD Green, Accutrigger worked by SSS, EGW 20 moa rail, Burris Extreme Tactical Scope Rings, Vortex Viper PST Front Focal Plane 6X24 scope. Shooting 175gr Sierra Match Kings loaded with 44.75 gr of Varget at .020 off of lands. The first break in match session saw 50 rds downrange,. average 3 shot group .400, best group .250. I love this setup, weighs just over 9lbs, my XLR setup was over 16 lbs. I can shoulder fire this rifle with pretty consistent accuracy.

Finally got my stamp and my SRT Shadow XL TI. J. Allen is telling me that my stock will ship at the end of the week ... although I'm skeptical. One more picture when I drop her in the stock.

After following Bayou Shooters for some time, joined for info, answers to questions, and of course to Show Off my New Custom Rifle!


The rifle is based on a Remington 700 long action Springfield .30-06!

ACTION has a Baked Cerakote Ceramic Silver finish - Trued & Squared to the barrel - Receiver Skim-Bedded into Stock - Holland SS recoil lug -PTG Neisika bolt shroud & bottom plate.

BARREL is a Krieger 24" .308 416A SS 1-10 twist 5R Rifling Heavy Rem Varmint Contour - Recessed & Beveled Crown - Match Cut .30-06 Chamber - Exterior bead-blasted diamond pattern design -Floated along Total Length.

TRIGGER is a Rifle Basic Wide Grooved L-1K "custom set" at a Crisp 1.2lb pull, No Creep, Very Little Over travel.

STOCK is a Boyd Walnut Laminate Pepper Rem LA BDL Style w\ High Cheek Weld.

Custom Engraving Laser Etched Family Crest and Initials.


After range ballistics testing, approaching 1\2" sub MOA groupings with Lapua Brass, Hodgden H4350 Powder (56.5g) and Barnes 168g Triple Shock Bullets.


Yep, looks like this Custom RITTEN PRECISION Rifle is going to shoot - As Good As It Looks...Thanks Son !!!

Finally done! 20" R700 .308 w/ a SRT Shadow XL TI. Timney trigger dropped in a JAE-700 Chasis with a GG&G bipod. I couldn't be happier.
