Nothing anyone says will matter. The $hitty politicians in NOLA will continue to equate us (as gun owners) to the type of feral individuals who carried out this latest installment of As The Shoulder Bump Turns. And that's EXACTLY what they do- every time.

I only speak for me. I'll be damned if I'm spending my money in a place run by people who think more highly of street criminals.

    kinda hypocritical huh?

I still don't agree that being aware of your surroundings is being fearful. Where's the thread of homeboy on here getting robbed in the whole foods parking lot in the metry/NOLA area? I bet he's a lil more aware of his surroundings. I know if I have a shady looking person approach me my senses go up. I also know that's another reason for me to not like that city even more.

Just curious do you CCW? if you do then you're one of the bayouwimps you're talking about...

    hy·poc·ri·sy
    həˈpäkrəsē/
    noun
the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.

I have admitted I am aware & fearful of the crime in New Orleans. But I don't run for the hills when the sun crests high noon because I've only got a few hours left before sundown. Me and millions of other people can handle going out for dinner or going to a show or a parade in New Orleans. No big deal. :ninja:

Sorry I called you scared or whatever. You're a very courageous, brave, strong, brazened person. We walk in the garden of your turpulence. ;)

Not sure why I needed the definition for this one... You know it's not a good city, but you still choose to go, that's all you bud. I never said I left at a certain time, I said you'll never catch my white a$$ in the chocolate city.

No need to apologize, I'm not offended. I'm not going to criticize your choices though.

    Or Essence Festival.

My Wife works at a Warehouse District hotel. She does not like the Bayou Classic crowd. They always bring drama to the hotel and never ever tip. The Essence crowd spends more money and is a more classy group than Bayou Classic. There is a big difference between them.

Jade is not being a hypocrite...in order for him to be a hypocrite, he would have to simultaneously poke fun at people who leave the city by 3p or earlier while he also leaves the city by 3p or earlier.

Having said that, we all have varying degrees of comfort...to each their own.

I live in a quiet part of Midcity that has been overrun by millennial hippies. Anyone who stays at my house asks me "Where's all this crime I keep hearing about?"

One of the perps booked for 95G Saturday night had a SW SV9 with a 33 round Glock mag modified to fit the Smith. There were about 8 rounds missing. The perp was from Baton Rouge.

Not surprising... The 4.99 8 piece at the Triple S is a hell of a deal, but I ain't driving over there to get it, and it's only 20 minutes from my house. I'm sure your perp is familiar with the Triple S. He probably got $230 for being falsely arrested during the protests! He was probably just hyped up on fried chicken and Kool-aid when he went to NO.

Interesting. I always stood up for the city in that regard, because I always said that if you weren't of a certain demographic, you wouldn't get shot. However, the TV news reported (yesterday) that NONE of the nine people shot were thought to be the intended targets. Couple that with the fact that also yesterday I got in the mail a $75.00 love note from the city for doing 27mph in a 20mph zone at 4:31 pm in near-night conditions on Canal at St. Patrick (G.F. treated me to dinner for birthday), and I can no longer defend them as I did. And I grew up there. :(

Have any of you ever given serious thought to what our nation could be if it were lacking AAs? I like stats, 14% of the population, 60% of the incarcerated today in the USA.

There are parts of our country where towns are > 95% white. Their crime stats are jaw dropping low. Jonesborough TN is one of em. Gray TN too. People still don't even lock their houses when they leave for hours. They leave their keys in their cars when they park. Its like a completely different planet really. I purchased an acre in Jonesborough couple years ago. Maine is 95% white too, but too cold up there. Utah crime is super low too.

Slavery f*cked us royally down the road.

Actually John Wilkes screwed us. Had Lincoln lived on he would have shipped all the AAs back to Africa... For people that actually know history, Lincoln did not believe in mixing the races. Lee was more tolerant of blacks. So stupid that the wrong one was shamed. No one wants to hear the facts though!

    so... avoiding the above topic...

Jerry V on WRNO the last few mornings has been talking about the shootings on Bourbon. One of the local politicians is working on a plan to have Bourbon as a closed off area. He wants to set up turnstyles with metal detectors for people to enter. Part of the discussion was that if you have a CCW you can still enter...
I didn't catch the whole thing but I don't see it working.
Better idea would be to make it open to stop and frisk in the quarter. Let the police have a bit more leeway in doing searches (within reason).

Just a random thought... why don't police have a handheld metal detector as part of their gear, at least in their cars?

Wise decision, I got sucked into that one!... I don't necessarily agree with random pat downs on the street. Violating people's civil rights isn't the answer. People will be screaming profiling and racism. Metal detectors to get onto bourbon isn't practical. The wand isn't a bad idea but pushing the rights boundary. I don't know the answer, but until it's figured out, I'll just stick to what I've been doing and avoid the area.
