If you show it then what? They hold it till you done? Copy it and save it for a file? Somthing for the gov. To access ? Why not just hand a fake id???Just looking at it for a sec has “0” security what so ever…. There’s really no “win” in that senecio
I’m the last person that wants more law or rule but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to hand my license to an Academy employee for them to hold while I’m holding one of their firearms. I give the firearm back then they give me back my license and I go on my way.

Never thought of that, I just hand my receipt to them when requested. I'm going to try your approach next time @ WM, I like it.

I can tell you this, when they have a line to check receipts at the door (busy), I just go around with my cart. I'm not waiting on that BS. Nothing has ever come of it.
I don’t wait in line to show my receipt at wal mart. I usually keep it in my hand and walk right through. If they tell me anything I tell them have a great day and keep walking. I never did play those games and always felt like it was a waste of time.

I don't mind flashing my receipt . It's never taken more than a few seconds . People need jobs , and I don't feel the need to show dominance over some 65 yr old woman trying to earn a living .
If Walmart needs a place to put that 65 year old employee, open another checkout lane. If Walmart is so concerned that I checked myself out correctly, remove me from the equation. And if they are going to put someone at the exits to confront shoplifters, I would suggest a 65 year old woman is not the best person.

For sure. Since we had this discussion I now realize WM puts that person there only as a bluff, purely for show. It might make someone think twice about it. It means nothing BC if you were actually shoplifting, that 65 yo woman damned sure isn't going to confront you. Or detain you. They have active video cams covering the entire self serve check out area (and most likely an employee monitoring them in a video security room somewhere) and your walk out of the store. The Hammond store has a large monitor overhead playing the live feed as you walk up to and under it.

Id rather not have a senior citizen running the check out. I rarely shop at Walmart but when I do I go straight to self check out. It's faster and I bag my groceries how I want.

If the line isn't long and it's an older person or somone with a disability, I'll show them my receipt, give them a smile, ask them how are they doing and thank them. I will admit that I'm an impatient person at times but I try my best to slow things down when I can... I worked retail and the times people gave me a nice gesture helped me more then they would know.

It's all about liability. If the shoplifter is caught and claims injury (which they will), the employees face prosecution and the store/company a lawsuit for millions.

None of that is within the scope of things I'm able to change . In the meantime I'll just continue to be civil and non confrontational .

I do everything I can to give store employees what little they ask for (showing receipt for unbagged items), speak to them with respect, and not give anyone any s**t. Those people work low-paying jobs and they ask for next to nothing.

I'm all about the self checkout anytime it's available. I don't need or want someone touching my items unnecessarily. Any given cashier could have just came back from playing connect-the-dots with their toilet paper fingers.

I'm civil and non confrontational as well. I'm sincere when i tell them "have a nice evening" as I walk past them. They don't ask for my receipt. And I've not been conditioned to stop and offer it to them.

I had a co-worker that complained he was always stopped at WM because he is black. Then I told him how Not to Get Stoped. Say hello to receipt checker when you walk in. When you leave have everything that you can in a bag. Keep your receipt in your hand & present it as you walk up. And if there is a line don’t try to sneak around it. I’m usually in & out. Guys like him seem to look for crap & he usually finds it and then complain.

Apparently they choose Felonious criminals over their own morally righteous employees. I wish I would have known this before, I could have spent my money with businesses that care about doing the right and proper thing.

A friend of mine was terminated, he was an assistant store manager, for trying to stop a POS from stealing a generator. It is the store policy not to stop people and everyone knows you'll be terminated. The reason they don’t want you chasing the bad guy is lawsuits from the families if the employee gets hurt. Like it or not this nothing new.

The bad guy got a gun and if it's used in a crime and traced back to Academy, I hope the victim, or their family sues the bejesus out of them. I will continue to use Academy for items I need and there is not a lot.

Y'all still go to grocery stores in person?

I paid a single annual fee and have all of my groceries delivered in a refrigerated truck owned by the grocer. No lines, no driving to the store, no waiting, and most importantly no time spent shopping. Just placed an order for tomorrow for groceries for the week: Took 5 minutes as it remembers all your past purchases. Added all the times to the cart, picked a 1 hour window for the groceries to arrive, and clicked go. Way less time than driving to/from, walking around, scanning my own groceries, and etc.

Thanks @southerncanuck for the idea ^^

    Walmart +
    Kroger
I believe Albertsons (depending on location)
    Pretty sure WholeFoods.

The most common is Walmart+ - most of my friends use them.

Take a look at the apps or website from grocery stores near you and see if they offer delivery. Most will. If they do, they probably offer a $50-$100 yearly fee that gives you free delivery in their vehicles (and not via Instacart).

For some reason, I LOVE making groceries. Ordering all my groceries would deprive me of something I love to do.

Maybe one day I'll draw the hypothetical line in the sand. BUT, it won't be the company who makes my cell phone, computer, refines our oil, gives us electricity etc. I will be a single store or product that I can easily live without.

I will never boycott Blue Bell ice cream. So there's that.
Boycotting Bud Light, Target, Columbia clothing, Black Rifle Coffee, Nike, Hornady, has been extremely easy and quite rewarding. LOL
