      Frozen Castle Nut

Was heat applied to release the thread locker?

      Frozen Castle Nut

I understand that holding the receiver extension is better, and if the OP has a reaction block, by all means use it. What I'm saying is: The receiver is robust enough to handle the force required to remove the castle nut from the receiver extension. If you suspect that thread locker has been...

      Frozen Castle Nut

That is the graphic provided in the Technical Manual. I understand that it shows a rifle receiver extension, but it covers both fixed and adjustable stock receiver extensions. I am fully aware of how it is assembled, and am providing advice backed by a source and experience, not from opinion...

      Frozen Castle Nut

Geissele's tool is great, if you have it. There is nothing wrong with holding the receiver this way. As I stated, this is how it is done per the USMC Technical Manual. Provide me with a stress analysis and load at which the receiver will yield.

      Frozen Castle Nut

Here is how I do it. It's also the way the TM shows to do it.

      Frozen Castle Nut

I'd put a little heat on it just incase thread locker was used. Then be patient with a big breaker bar.

WTB: A2 Carry Handle Upper Receiver

I'm looking for a like new/lightly used A2 upper. I would prefer one with the rear sight installed, but dust cover and forward assist don't matter. Extended M4 feed ramps would be nice too. Thanks, Kenny

Anyone order from Botach since they moved to Nevada?

I've ordered a few things and they shipped promptly. I'm working with customer service to resolve an issue right now, so I may be disgruntled in a few days, but as of now no complaints.

      Carrier Key staking tool

A punch and hammer may be the route I take, but I'd like to use the tool if possible. Here's the story on how the original got damaged...

      Carrier Key staking tool

Hey guys, I just replaced the carrier key on a bolt carrier and I need to stake it. Does anyone on the Northshore have a staking tool I can borrow?

Any HDTV outdoor antenna users in Ascension??

Good news is that most HDTV signals are UHF, so a large unidirectional antenna, is only about half the size as a conventional analog antenna. I went with a Winegard, and I'm very pleased. Use the CEA color chart, and I believe most antennas list how wide of a arc (i.e. 20*) they will cover. I...

Any HDTV outdoor antenna users in Ascension??

Check out antennaweb.org, and tvfool. They'll help determine what you need, and where to point it. I have an outdoor antenna in my attic, and pick up 30 or so channels from NOLA. I've got Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix for everything else.

Gun store owner and son killed in fight with angry customer

Author may have had McConfusion. The customers being Chalmations supports the loud, boisterous, and belligerent theory. I kid, I kid. I don't think the shooting was over $25. Someone did something stupid, and **** got serious real quick. Two folks wound up dead, and two others seriously...

Gun store owner and son killed in fight with angry customer

While I agree with you, I did a stint in retail, and I promise you there are far more people without sense than with. What I'm getting at is that a 17 y/o young man doesn't make the best decisions, nor do scared parents. Knife mentioned by Cheif Deputy...

Gun store owner and son killed in fight with angry customer

Well, if I bought a firearm that had a problem back to the dealer that I purchased it from, I'd be pretty pissed off about a $25 fee, especially if the dealer gave me a fee or firearm choice. According to DaveM's account, that just may be what happened. I can see things getting heated in a...
