New Orleans guns stores
the last retail outlet i was aware of selling firearms in new orleans was the walmart on tchoupitoulas. they have not sold any since august 28, 2005. since then i am unaware of any retail firearms sales in new orleans.- rdass623

Help w/ Family Heirloom Wood Stock Repair
i would look into a replacement stock. it is hard to tell if the cracks are from recoil or possibly being dropped. if this is a heavy recoiling rifle, any repair should be accompanied by some serious glass bedding to support the action. good luck, but it appears there is substantial damage to...- rdass623

Best AR cal. for hunting
the way to get the 7.62 x 39 to function is to grind the ramp lower and taper the lower locking lug pretty much eliminating it until it becomes part of the feed ramp. this will allow for very reliable feeding. you will feel like you are destroying the upper but this is the way to get reliable... -

generally speaking, the 7.62 x 39 cartridge would probably be the most economical and accessible of choices. with ballistics near the 30-30 winchester, it would be a good chioce for a deer rifle, as the 30-30 win is the go to deer round for under 200 yards. cheap, available, and powerful seems... -
Rust on AK
if you are looking for a paint, you can get dura coat from either midway or brownells.... it is great for refinishing firearms. you can go plain black or camo easily. they aslo if i am not mistaken make other bright colors... very tough finishes... a little surface rust on a ak will be fine... -
Maglite conversion .
with the led, the power of the 6 cell is unnecessary. a much smaller light wil produce a remarkable amount of light and have a great run time. personally i have just recently converted some of my old streamlight stingers to led and and they are bright and run for well over 12 hours on a charge...- rdass623

poor (?) 20" stainless steel barrel accuracy - update
possibly a good polishing of the barrel? using some J&B no embedding bore cleaner or maybe some flitz polish on a flannel patch? there may be a rough part of the cut or maybe a burr where the gas port was drilled which is throwing you off... -

What's your goto palm-sized pocket pistol?
it is not really a palm sized, but a Kahr P9 is my subcompact choice for concealability. they also make smaller versions in the 9mm cartridge. anything smaller to me just seems to be too ergonomically challenging for a stressful situation.
