A1 Upper troubles.

What do you have in the upper so far? Who made the barrel and BCG?

A 16" barrel with rifle gas will be iffy, no matter who sets it up. The mid length gas works great with the 16" tube.

This. If anyone can get it running better though, it's Adco. I'd never trust ot beyond plinking though.

About $675.00-$700.00 The upper, barrel and BCG is all Olympic Arms.

OK I got the upper back from a buddy that offered to work on it. Went to the range with a bunch of ammo and the only thing it won't shoot is Tula steel cased ammo it eats everything else. I didn't get the low down on what was done but I'm sure it was with the gas system.

The steel cases aren't swelling to seal the chamber allowing needed gasses to escape around the case. How dirty is the BCG and chamber after shooting the steel stuff? Should be plenty sooty if I am correct.

Yea it gets pretty dirty and from all my reading I agree 100% with you. The steel cased stuff shot fine in my other gun so I think this one is still a little undergassed but I'm not putting anymore money into it just to run steel case ammo in it.

Not a gunsmith just a guy I know. He just has the bbl and upper vise blocks.

I know you were talking about sending it off for expert repairs, wasn't sure if the guy specialized in this and you had some crazy difficult to fix problem, or if it was something more simple.

Oh I was just thinking it was a gas issue. Chamber size and Headspace never even crossed my mind. If it is the Chamber or the Headspace that's outta spec is it safe to shoot?
