the 70k is complete BS. that is putting all the battery and motor development cost towards the Volt alone. that tech will be used for many more vehicles. Its Fox being "suprisingly" biased against the car. Any losses are small.

Time to replace my wife's daily driver, She's easy on cars. Her current car is a 2001 Mitsu. Galant. still ticking, but it's time for something new.
Her commute is less than 25 miles and her total daily driving is less than 35.
The idea of possibly never buying gas again is attractive.
    Thanks for the info.
Guess I'm going to take a test drive.
MSRP is 40K. You get the Tax Credit which wacks that down some.

It does sound attractive until you figure the cost of battery replacement in a few years!
I'll stick with my 42 mpg Honda civic when I am not in one of my guzzlers.

I drive a Prius (laugh all you will). I'm dreading the day that I've got to drop $4K for battery replacement.

Seriously, that's the cost of a new engine. Imagine having to drop the equivalent of a new motor in your car every 5-6 years. Great in theory, terrible in reality.

How much will your electricity bill go up with that thing plugged in all night?? That should offset most of the gas savings.

    1.50 for full charge.
And yea I guess we are all helping to buy it. Guess its the new normal, not just this car but so many other things; phones, food, utilities, vouchers, etc.

I do not own a Volt but I have ridden in one. A friend (local attorney) bought one. Kept it less than six months and took a huge hit on the sale. Took about a month of advertising befoe he found a buyer.
