Sometimes, there is a fine line between someone wanting to do something themselves, and just letting others handle it. :)

I used to do plumbing work a long, long time ago; but I have no desire to change out a sewer main under my slab just because I could!

Nonetheless, these threads ALWAYS provide me with a good chuckle!

True, but changing a buffer or rotating a gas block (if that's even the problem) is a lot easier than changing a sewer main lol.

I'm a grumpy person and I found the original question a bit odd. AR's don't require a gunsmith to be built, anyone can do it. That's why they are assembled and not built. Building a 1911 with random parts is a lot more work than slapping an AR together. Point being, anyone can be an "AR Gunsmith" so asking who is the best is like asking which human on this planet can breathe the best.

ZQ1 ammo from walmart.... I have since bought a couple hundred rounds of SSA 175 gr, and Federal gold medal match 175gr SMK

Never even heard of that! :mamoru:

They should sell all of that to ISIS! Since they hold their rifles up over or around walls to shoot without looking down the sight plane anyway, it wouldn't matter what groups it shoots. :p

    Northshore
Wrap up: success. Something very simple. Didn't need to change out anything from the standard parts I used. The biggest lesson learned... don't grease an AR. Tolerances on many of these 308ARs are very tight. I'd overloaded the bcg with grease and functioning became spotty. Cleaned everything well, lubed the bcg heavily with Rem Oil, a dab of grease behind the locking lugs on the bcg and perfect function. Fed GMM, old reloads, new reloads, didn't matter, perfect function. This is going to be a shooter. Yeah, only 50 yds (pulled one), but the target was set up and I was too lazy to go out to the 100 yd. line.
Now I have to diagnose another one . It never ends.
I still want the name of a recognized AR smith on the northshore.

You are the best gunsmith on the North Shore. BTW: I was failure to feed issues with reloads but they would stick part way into the breach. I purchased a full-length sizer die which puts the body of the case as close to factory as possible. No more problems.

Wait did you help him get it going?

He PMed me on the advice of another member. He ran the failure, components and details down to me and I told him what I thought would fix it from easiest (**** can the grease) to a few other possible fixes based on his components and now it is running so I guess I did, but haven't heard back from him. Not that I need to, I just saw the thread had bumped and that it was running so I chimed in.
